LAUNCH PARTY

Powder: Writing by Women in the Ranks, from Vietnam to Iraq was released on November 11, Veterans' Day, 2008. Many joined us for our landmark launch event in Tucson, Arizona after the Veterans' Day Parade. This event featured readings by Powder contributors Charlotte M. Brock, Christy L. Clothier, and Elizabeth Keough McDonald; Tucson authors Alison Hawthorne Deming, Niki Herd and Martha Ostheimer; music by Vicki Brown; and an address by Congressman Raúl Grijalva, as well as food and beverages. Coming up: Powder will be taught as part of Sociology 462 (Women in the Military) at the University of Maryland University College Asian Division, which offers undergraduate courses on military bases throughout the Pacific.  If the course is successful they’ll offer it at other locations and online.
